How it all began

A mom-and-pop operation

Sam Bonham needed a way to fix cracked engine blocks without a torch. Working with a Texas A&M chemist he formulated a two-part epoxy, mixed the first batch in his garage and named it J-B Weld.

He and Mary sold it out of the trunk of their car to auto-parts jobbers across east Texas. Word spread because the product worked — permanently.

More than fifty years later, the company Sam and Mary started is headquartered near Atlanta and sold at over 90,000 retail locations in more than 40 countries.

    The Original Cold-Weld

Two tubes, one ratio, a permanent bond that can be shaped, tapped, filed, sanded and drilled once cured.

    One product becomes a range

KwikWeld, WaterWeld, SteelStik, MarineWeld, WoodWeld and PlasticWeld put a purpose-built option behind every kind of repair.

  3. 2010

    New ownership, new home

Chip Hanson acquires the company and relocates the corporate headquarters to Marietta, in the Atlanta metro.

A purpose-built office in Sandy Springs

The team moves north from Marietta into a new office designed around how we actually work — and how we test what we sell.

To instill confidence and self-reliance to pull off any project.

Our vision

To be the go-to brand for anyone who believes in fixing, building and making things last.

Where we stand

We stand behind every tube, every stick and every syringe we sell — with a bond that's tougher than steel.

What we're built on

Integrity, ingenuity and an unshakeable belief that the right adhesive can save almost anything.

What we believe

Every product we ship and every decision we make is measured against a short list of principles that haven't changed since Sam mixed the first batch.

  • Superior experience

We obsess over the moment someone opens the package, mixes the epoxy and makes the repair — every detail of that experience has to be best-in-class.

  • Exceed consumer expectations

Under-promise, over-deliver. If the label says it holds 5,020 PSI, the real number should be higher.

  • Trustworthiness

We earn trust by being consistent — same formula, same strength, same result, batch after batch, year after year.

Our principles

Be your strongest self

Whether you're patching a leaky pipe at midnight or rebuilding an engine on a Saturday, J-B Weld is the partner that never lets you down.
